The following section contains the collected quotes from Satguru Sirio Ji and earlier Masters of Surat Shabd Yoga.
“To have access to the Inner Light, even if it happens just once in our life, it’s yet worthwile, because it’s the supreme experience of human life.”
“Expanding oneself more and more, getting out of the narrow cage of our tiny personality and becoming broader and broader, until we become Gurumukh, or mouthpieces of the Guru or conscious co-workers of the Divine Plan.”
“If you believe God is the doer of everything and everything is moved by him. Everything happens according to his will. Then we should just be at peace and accept Situations the way they are the way they happen to be.”
“God is formless. It’s absolute. Omnipotent. But He’s above form and duality and time and space. But He manifests to us the way we worship him. So if we love our Master and understand that God manifests to us through our Master it’s natural that we give to this God Supreme above form and shape and everything. We give this faith, give this form. It becomes our personal God, our Ishtadeva. That’s how it’s called in India. The personal God that we choose shapes us our psyche, our mind. This God manifests to us in that form in which we adore Him.”
“We have to find strategies by which we are able to make the Path work. If we don’t react to situations and just let it be, than we get lost, we loose the way. We loose the spirit of the way. So there’s always a way that works, we have to find it for ourselves.”
“In order to go back to the Source, to the Origin, we have to unite our Surat, or attention, with this Divine Power, or Shabd, or Divine Light and Divine Sound. “
“Oh my Gurudev, whatever I have, it has been given to me by You. So I offer it to You, by placing it at Your lotus feet. “
“The Truth is Life, the Truth is LIght and it is also Love. The Truth is God. So that is what we want to contact always when we sit in meditation.”
“This God it’s not a person, it’s not anything that you can touch. It’s a Divine State of Consciousness in which you feel drenched, full, saturated with the Divine.”
“Any meditation we do is going to build up this kind of spiritual being we want to become. Iths going to build up inside of us this being of Light, which is what we really are, because the identification with this physical body is just an illustion.”
“Time is like a river in which we fish out moments of Eternity.”
“If we’re able to stop this thinking process for just a few minutes, than a new dimension, a higher dimension, opens up. “
“Any meditation sitting we do, and anytime we contact something deeper inside of us, we add a brick to the temple of the spirit that we are building for ourselves.”
“We need a real Master who has been looking for this profound reality of life most of his life. Who has dedicated all his energies in this direction, in this endeavor. Because this Being with his wisdom will instruct us, teach us, and make us understand the reality of things. And since he is so good, by associating with this good person, we’ll also become better people. And since He is full of Light, He’s an instrument of the Light then you will also become full of Light. We will also become saturated with Divine Light. We will be nourished with this Light.”
“If you want to understand what this topic of spirituality, of seeking and finding Truth is all about, you don’t just go with the books. You don’t just go with the opinions of these and that. You didn’t even go with the holy scriptures. Because they tell, again, what is, quite superficial. Superficial in the sense that can only be understood by the intellect. It’s not your own experience. It’s only your experience that makes you understand how all this phenomenon of seeking Truth, seeking reality it’s about.”
“We love this Supreme Being. Because it is our source, it’s our origin, it’s what we really are. We love ourselves, by loving God.”
“Nothing better than a Satsang. There are many things in this world, but nothing can be compared to a Satsang. Why? Because Satsang is a doorway towards high above, towards right understanding and towards wisdom.”
“The Light is always present, but we are not able to tune in with it because we are confined in our thoughts, our emotions, day to day-to-day life, so we lose touch with it. We disconnect, and we become more and more isolated as beings. But when we pay more attention by meditating more, by spending time with the Master, then, we plug in again. We have a much more profound perception of this flow of energy that envelops us. And we become like one consciousness. It becomes very harmonious. It shows that the more we are separated, stuck in our person, in our problems, personal identity, the more we suffer, the more we are stuck in our existence. When we expand our consciousness and we get into this flow of energy, then we come to a state of communion, of unity. And that makes things very fluid, very harmonious, therefore, beautiful. This is what I perceive always doing retreats. In the beginning, we are all stuck in our person, in our own life. But as we proceed, as we go on during the retreat, more and more this isolation melts away, and we become one consciousness. Not quite one, but closer to that. And this makes it very harmonious, very beautiful. The difference is melt away. And like one being arises. This is a small example of what it has to be. Widening our consciousness, and perception of life, and becoming expanded in loving vastness.”
“We humbly ask our Satguru, to please bring our boat from the ocean of life to the other side, to the other shore. And we only want His darshan and nothing else. There’s nothing from this world that has any value. Nothing of this world is appealing to us that, eventually, all we want is to cross to the other side and have His darshan. So, with such a longing heart and such a devoted attitude, we try to go deep in meditation to withdraw our attention from this world and focus it as perfectly as possible on the seat of the soul in front of our forehead so that we may go across and reach the other side.”
“The bond with a Master, at least for those who really love their Master, it is unbreakable. The bond we have with our family, it’s a very strong one in this world, in this society, and this life. It is the most compact. But even more powerful than this, it is the bond that we have with our Master, if it is really our Master if you really love Him as such. Sant Ji used to say, if I meet someone who is madly in love with my Master, as much as I am madly in love with my Master, then he will understand me. Otherwise, it’s not possible to understand. So lucky are those who fall in love with their Master and take their Master as their everything.”
