The following section contains the collected quotes from Satguru Sirio Ji and earlier Masters of Surat Shabd Yoga.
“In order to break the chain of thoughts is very important to become intoxicated, inebriated with Divine presence. And to become inebriated, intoxicated we have to sing the praises of God with all of our love and devotion. So, according to how intense it is our prayer or call through to the singing – because what it is when we sing we pray to God loud by singing – and the melody, the harmony creates this uplifting atmosphere that becomes a vehicle to transcend the physical consciousness. So then the chain of thoughts breaks and the soul takes the flight.”
“To think about weakness in old age is also a trick of the mind: By making us worry about all the weaknesses which some do experience in old age, our mind is keeping us from Simran. Instead of thinking about old age and its weakness, we should do Simran, which could be of some help to us. But worrying will not help.”
“Whatever your ruling passion is at the end of your life, you’ll be driven there, that’s the law.”
“Satsangis should make the habit of keeping their attention concentrated at the Eye Center, even when they are not meditating, even when they are walking and doing other things of the world, because when we allow our attention to drop down from the Eye Center, it means that we are wasting a lot of our spiritual energy.”
“Once you discover this Light and learn to live by it, your whole existence will be changed. Love will permeate your very being and it will burst forth from the very pores of your body, transmuting all dross into sterling gold.”
“We realize the goodness of a tree only when we eat its fruit. In the same way, only those who have obeyed the commandments of the Master know how much one enjoys the fruit of obeying the commandments of the Master. All those who are initiated by Master Kirpal will be liberated, because He has taken responsibility for them. But those who have obeyed the commandments of the Master while living – those who have gone within and seen Him while they are living – they are the brave ones. Even though He will liberate everybody, only they are the brave ones who do the work which He told them to do in their lifetime.”
“Desires are the cause of suffering, and he alone is poor who has unfulfilled desires. He who is free from desires is richest. All desires arise in the mind, and when the mind is subdued and is merged in the sound current, the game is won.”
“Whatever you do, if done with love, passion and yearning, becomes a great pleasure. Even washing dishes or cleaning the house if we do it for the fun of it we will feel happy. The more we Meditate on the Divine Links [of Light and Sound], they will make us happy, contented and gratified.”
“As loving advice I give you, from this moment let love be your constant companion and trust Him in all things.”
“We want to ascend from the human to the Divine,
we want to transcend all the planes until the Infinite,
let us tune in with the roar of Naam…”
“In order to get liberation from this world and become detached from this world, it makes no difference if one lives under the earth, or if he makes his home in the sky – if he is not free from all his desires, he cannot become detached from this world. Why? When a man leaves the body, he has not yet accomplished all his desires. There is always one or another desire left which is not fulfilled. Wherever you are attached, there you go. So, according to our desires which are not fulfilled, and according to wherever we are attached, we have to come back into this world again to pay off our debts. So it does not matter if we physically leave this world, but if we have not left the attachments of this world – our thoughts and our desires – we cannot be liberated.”
“We are all on the Way. Some are less ready and others more so due to their karmic evolution of the experience in past lives.”
“We should all follow the teachings of the Master, we should do the meditation of Naam, so that our soul can return to her Real Home. It is a law of nature that we get things according to our wishes. If we are attached to the things of this world, if we wish for the worldly things, we come back to this world again and again, and we get the sufferings and pains of this world. But if we have love for the Master, if we desire to do the devotion of Naam, then our soul can easily go back to her origin. Our soul is a drop, and we can easily take our soul back to the ocean from where she came.”
“Whether your past has been wicked, or virtuous, or indifferent, the saints call upon you to devote yourselves to the task of meditation. Forget past sins, and do no more. You can rid yourself of the poison you have consumed in the past, but you must not keep swallowing more and more of it. All initiates are granted some experience of the inner life. If you have lost it, it is because you have been lethargic, unwise, and forgetful, or you have persisted in your old ways. If so, you must regain your lost capital.”
“The spiritual path wants to make us free from slavery to the body and the jail of the mind in which we keep swimming from one thought to the other without any end, without any real peace. So, we want to get out from this cage and experience wideness and expansion of consciousness, which is so liberating, which is so wonderful.”
“When we are with the Master and we look into His face, into His eyes and we listen to His words with full attention, that’s an extension of meditation. Because what is meditation after all? It’s a completely focused attention with no minds, no thoughts, completely immersed in what we are doing! So any spiritual practice what we do, the Bhajan singing, the mantra singing, Darshan, looking at the Master, in His face, in His eyes it’s all meditation! It’s all contributes to uplift our consciousness.”
“The biggest enemy in this world of all mankind is our mind. There is nobody else who is the enemy of man. So we are not to bow down to our enemy. We are to fight against him. You be brave and fight with mind. So the weapon to fight against the mind is the Naam. Satguru is always ready to help you. Remember Satguru, every difficulty will be removed. So you are to give more time for meditation.”
“Entire self-surrender to God is the secret of a true lover of God. Therefore, he should be a man of purity, humility and meekness. The main thing one should do is devotion to the Name of God and see the Light and hear the Voice of God – the Sound Principle reverberating in all. For this, he should devote regular time to meditation and conquer the passions through communion with the Master. He should sing of God – the Beloved, and enter into the superconscious through intoxication of His sweet remembrance.”
“The disciples get Initiation from the Master and they make a promise to their Master. If we keep the promise which we have made to our Master, He will also set us free from the clutches of the Negative Power. Because the Master is always looking after the disciples who do the devotion, who keep their promise. The Master is very gracious, and those who always remain sincere in their devotion are released from the clutches of Negative Power.”
“One must be in the world attending to the duties and obligations assigned to him or her, but one should do these in a very detached manner.”
