The following section contains the collected quotes from Satguru Sirio Ji and earlier Masters of Surat Shabd Yoga.
„I will say it about my Masters, there was nobody as good as they were to me, because they really taught me good things. So what do they teach me? They taught me to give priority above everything else to self realization and God realization.”
„And I will say, all the satsangis, the good satsangis, the real satsangis they will say the same: that there is no donor equal to the Guru in this world.”
“So thats the way. That’s the way to be a real good man
Somebody who sticks to his conventions to his main choices in life…. So let’s try to be stable people. People who make choices and stick to them till you die. We want to be rocks not dry leaves that are carried by any wind.”
“I am an honest person. I am somebody who clings to the precious things of life and to the relations in which I put myself. So when I choose somebody to be my Master he will be my Master forever. It doesn’t matter what happens it doesnt matter the tests, the difficulties, the problems. I have chosen this person as my master and he will be my Master forever.”
“When we have a real spiritual experience that deeply touches us in which we really see reality that means we really disengage ourselves from our body. That’s the time in which we really experience this incredible joy. The joy of understanding eventually what’s the purpose of life, what’s our purpose, who we are. What we are. Which is the goal. That’s what gives the real joy.”
“So when does a man really experience the real joy, the real happiness, the real fulfillment? When one transcends this physical body. That’s the only way, the only time in which we may experience that incredible joy of understanding eventually what we are.”
“When we sit in meditation, we are told to relax our body, give up any tension, and relax and be at peace. Then we are told that we have to still the mind. We have to silence the mind, which goes on all the time with his running commentaries about everything. And we have to activate our attention, our Surat, by well focusing it in the middle of what we see in front of our forehead. We have to forget everything where we are, our body and its activities, and withdraw, withdraw from everything. Practically, we shut the doors of sensory perception. Close our eyes, we don’t see. We try not to be disturbed by noises, so we try not to hear. We don’t speak. We don’t smell. We don’t taste, we don’t touch. These are how we connect with the outer world, so we shut them all down. But then it’s essential to be awake. Master Kirpal always said, to do your meditation when you are fully awake and conscious. This is a problem for most of the meditators. At some point, we may fall asleep. So we are not meditating. We are sleeping. So how to avoid it? There are helpful tips, and I give you some. You can move your head left, or right, or turn it clockwise, unclockwise. From time to time take a big breath. It’s like somebody shakes you. The other thing is the hands. Hands should never be together because if you keep them together, they become warm and induce sleep. So they are to be always separated, one on one leg, one on the other leg. They can be turned downwards or they can be turned upwards, better upwards. And if anyway you tend to fall asleep then you can just raise them. Don’t keep them on your body, on your legs, but raise them a bit. Another helpful tip is to keep your mouth open a little bit. Because you very well know, when you are looking at something which you really like, by which you are enchanted, your mouth opens naturally. So also when we meditate, it’s good to keep our mouth a bit open. So we need goodwill. We need to be acting. We have to find our way, whichever works better for us.”
“Starting the day with meditation sitting, with an act of devotion, that brings in love then that helps us tune in with Sadhguru power. It is the best way of starting our day. It is the way the seeker of truth should always, by any means, begin his day, her day. Because this will attract on us his blessing. It will protect us, will uplift our consciousness, and therefore, attract into our life, into the day that we are going to live the blessing, the grace, the support, and protection. So one of the purposes by which this is to be done is to attract his blessing, his protective shelter, his sharan, as they say in India. That will protect us from low energies that may complicate our lives. But if we have this shield around us, then those won’t bother us. Because our level of consciousness will be above it, will be uplifted. Therefore, we will invite you into your life, into our experience good vibes, and good energy. That will create good events, blessed events. So there are several reasons why we should start our day this way. The other reason is that we need, I mean, a real seeker of Truth, a real Satsangi will need to feel His presence because this is what makes our within beautiful, peaceful, and harmonious. This is what will inspire our mind with beautiful thoughts, inspired thoughts, and creative thoughts. Therefore, our choices in life will be of a higher kind. We’ll be inspired. Then there is also a sense of commitment, of duty. Because when we took initiation, we promised that we would meditate every day. That’s why we took initiation, because we want to follow the Path, and we want to get the benefit that the Path may grant us, provide us. So it’s a promise to God, the Master, and ourselves to live a certain lifestyle, and we do it because we are dignified people that stand by their own promises, their own choices in life.”
“So Master Kirpal used to say simple life and high thinking. Don’t want too much just be happy with what you have. It’s natural to try and improve our situation but we shouldn’t make it the goal of our life , the be all and end all of our life. We should just try to make nice and beautiful what we have. That’s the secret of manifesting the Divine in everything. We don’t need to change something. We need to keep it nice and beautiful. So we take care of ourselves of this body of this mind. Of our emotions. And we try to make our life beautiful. Not by acquiring again and again new things, but making beautiful what we have.”
“So try to understand what’s useful And what’s useless. What’s useful? Your peace of mind. Your inner satisfaction which comes from The Bliss which is already inside of you We are actually blissful beings. If we are deprived, separated from mind and thoughts. Which create emotions and sensations which give us troubles. Without this, we are just at peace.”
“It seems like a blasphemy to think that we are divine, that we are gods ourselves. But it is not because that’s what we are. We are all Divine in nature. Potential Divine beings. We come here to manifest fully this Divinity which is in us.”
“Maulana Rumi says, ” We have already been in heaven. So why don’t we go farther on? The Absolute, it’s our goal. So it’s important to understand what we are. What’s the purpose of life. What we are here for. We are here to become complete human beings. And a complete human beings it is a God in himself.”
“So in a way it’s a blessing to come in a physical body even if it
is troublesome. Master Kirpal often used to quote this sentence from the Quran thay says “When God made man he asked the angels to bow down to the human being.” Because it is said that it is only in this physical body and it is only as human beings. That we may realize the Supreme God. The Supreme Reality. It’s not given to the angels. It’s not given to the gods. They have to reincarnate in order to reach the absolute.”
“All the masters say that the evolution that happens in a lifetime in a physical body, is so much more than what may happen in the other higher planes of existence. Let’s say in heaven or whatever you want to call it. Because here we are pushed into situations. We experience lot of pain ,lot of sufferings. That means lot of lessons. By which we need to learn and grow.”
“So we are a part of this supreme consciousness. Which has come down into this body has taken up a body to make experiences. To experience life in order to grow. That’s the reason why we come in this world. To experience life in order to grow.”
“So anyway what are we if we are not this body, we are not this mind? Master kirpal used to say we are conscious beings. We are a drop of the ocean of all consciousness. So consciousness is what we are.”
“All of us have like two beings inside of us, a good person and a bad person. And we want to cling to the good person and give up the bad one. Because the bad person doesn’t make anybody happy.First of all , it doesn’t make ourselves happy. And then also the people with whom we relate.”
“But most of the people they just undergo their thoughts. Without any control over them. So seeking truth is meant for this. Seeking first of all , the truth of ourselves. Try to understand who we are what we are. Try to cultivate the good side of ourselves and give up the bad side.”
“It’s very difficult to acquire this self control over our thoughts. The one who succeeds is the great man. The great woman.”
“Most of the time we don’t like our mind means we don’t like what we think. Because it doesn’t bring any honor to us most of the time. But thanks God we also have a side of the mind which is bright which is Inspiring. Because also the mind has several sides, several levels. Very low level of these uncontrolled thoughts. But then there are also inspired thoughts. Creative thoughts. So that’s what we have to develop. That’s what we have to cling to and try to work on so that we make a very healthy mind. And meditation is definitely that’s what the purpose of meditation is trying to build a healthy mind. That means acquiring control over our thoughts and trying to direct them so that we are not slaves to our thoughts.”
